Currently we are in the final phase of the project with each of the utility companies completing their respective work for under-grounding of the aerial lines. After the utility companies complete the under-grounding (see description below), remove their aerial lines, and remove the poles; the construction contractor has 30 days to complete the final site work such as completion of the pavers and sidewalk in areas were poles exist, install of the lights that are in conflict with the aerial lines, etc. We are on schedule for most of the utility work to be completed by June 30 based on Dominion’s schedule. In addition, Dominion will work west to east on the project in sections to convert the electric feed for individual properties from aerial to underground. We will work with Dominion to coordinate those service changes to minimize impacts to properties during this downtime. In the interim, the construction contractor has some site work to complete as well as asphalt repair work on driveways and the areas outside of where VDOT will pave.
VDOT has indicated Main Street is on the summer repaving schedule.
Under-grounding – this includes each utility company completing any ground work such as setting transformer pads along main street, completing individual service connections, and pulling their service lines through the constructed ductbank.
